This Spring, Thomas has launched an exciting new education programme with his festival in Kent, Music@Malling. Since 2011 the Festival has worked with over 4,000 local school children. Now Music@Malling is developing a new, annual programme that will run year-round and enable primary school children to develop instrumental and ensemble performance that will reach a further 2,000 pupils in Malling and Ashford during the year.

This Spring the annual programme launches with an ensemble musicianship project funded by Soundhub, music education in Kent. The ensembles project is geared towards getting young instrumentalists making music together, working as a team. Musicians from Chamber Domaine will mentor the groups, as well as coaching schoolteachers to continue to lead and develop the ensembles in schools, ensuring each is sustainable. The goal of the project is to challenge the regional discrepancies in provincial areas with regards to music and instrumental lessons.

The programme was featured in ME19 Magazine. Read the full article here.
